Shining Success for Letchworth Food & Drink Festival

Letchworth saw the return of its Food & Drink Festival on Saturday 26th & Sunday 27th May. The annual event transformed Letchworth Town Centre into a buzzing culinary and entertainment hub, attracting thousands of visitors from both Letchworth and surrounding towns and villages who were keen to enjoy delicious cuisines and refreshments against the backdrop of exceptionally sunny weather.

Visitors were spoilt for choice when it came to food delights. On the main stage, live cookery demonstrations courtesy of local and celebrity chefs Saira Hamilton, Chilli Olly, Anne Harnan and Emma Al-Hudairi entertained the crowds over the two-day period. With over 70 food and drink stalls dispersed across the town, visitors also sampled tantalising world cuisine including Spanish, Turkish, Indian, Thai and Greek and refreshing beverages from brewery stalls, prosecco vans and cocktail stands.

Letchworth BID Manager Patricia Saunders commented on the success of the Love Letchworth event: “As with all festivals and events that the BID organises in Letchworth Town Centre, our ultimate aim is to present visitors with a family fun festival that is free and easy to access, provides a host of food & drink and entertainment activities and caters to all. We truly believe that this year was no exception; the turnout was, once again, extraordinary. On behalf of Letchworth BID and all businesses who make up the BID, I would like to thank everyone for coming and for their continued support of our town and local businesses.”

The popular event, which showcased Progress Group as the main sponsor with support sponsorship from North Hertfordshire College and Wentworth Kitchens, also ensured that there was entertainment on offer to suit all tastes and ages. From live street music to free children’s face painting, mascot photo opportunities and Imajica’s theatre show as well as additional activities from Garden Square Shopping Centre and The Wynd, the Letchworth Food & Drink Festival truly offered something for everyone.
